*Virtual. Saturday, September 12, 2020, 4:00-5:30 p.m.– UAA Annual Summer Picnic traditionally held at Fort Hunt Park in Alexandria, VA, will be held virtually this year due to the coronavirus gathering restrictions. This social event is open to all UAA alumni and is a great way to spend a few hours with friends and former colleagues.  In order for us to know that you and your family are coming, please sign up before the Labor Day weekend, no later than Friday, September 4, by clicking here.  Those who have signed up will receive Zoom instructions a few days before the picnic.

NEW! On June 30, 2020 the UAA and DACOR held our first virtual Development Dialogue at DACOR.  This unusual event, with an audience of over 100 from around the country, was required by the impact of COVID-19 and featured Gayle Smithformer AID Administrator and current President/CEO of the ONE Campaign and host, Alex ShakowA person sitting in front of a book shelf

While her main topic was “Attacking Poverty in a Rapidly Changing Global Environment”, she also answered questions for about 45 minutes on a wide array of subjects.  While expressing deep concern about the impact of the virus and other discouraging developments (including at USAID), she also found important reasons to be optimistic and hopeful.  See the video and hear her comments and responses to more than a dozen questions here.
