UAA Bulletin Board

The UAA Bulletin Board is the town square of the Association which provides recent information of interest and importance to Alumni.  We encourage local members and those outside the D.C. area to provide us with the development-related articles or items published in local news media, development organization statements, and other relevant sources.

You can submit items for posting by sending them to “office@usaidalumni.org, subject: UAA Bulletin Board”.  The articles will be posted as titles that, when clicked on, will pop up on the reader’s website page.

More Awards Found — Update

Please check the list and help us locate awardees

As we posted earlier, UAA members and USAID staff worked together to rescue about 400 – 500 awards: inscribed plaques, awards, promotions into and within the Senior Foreign Service, Presidential Rank Awards, and certificates, including Length of Service, FSN or the Year, Civ-Mil Cooperation, Distinguished Career Service, and a series of named awards.  We have updated the list of awardees and ask that you review the list to help us reach the awardees so we can unite award and awardee.
Two remaining USAID staff continue to help us in this unification task and they are now in possession of all the awards.  The two remaining USAID officers are Myra Emma Stokes and Chris Thomson who can be reached
at mestokes@usaid.govchrthompson@usaid.gov or through foundawards@gmail.com. Please contact these three addresses if you have any questions or can provide contact or address information for the awardees. Click here to see the list of awardees.
Thank you for your assistance!

  • Memorial Plaque Ceremony: May 1, 11:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. ET, at AFSA HQ. AFSA’s annual ceremony honoring the service and sacrifice of members of the Foreign Service, particularly those who did not make it home. For the first time since 1933, the event will not be held at the Department of State. This year, we will expand the program to include a reflection on the USAID Memorial Wall and honor the six colleagues whose names will be added. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be streamed on Facebook and Instagram.
  • DACOR Events: Our friends at DACOR are also marking Foreign Service Day with events on April 30 and May 1. Please see their events calendar for additional details.
  • Free and Low-Cost Primary Health Care Facilities in the DMV area

Many former USAID and Implementing Partner staff living in the DMV area who lost their jobs in 2025 and have been unable to find appropriate health insurance, may find this list of free and low-cost primary health care facilities area useful. The list may be especially useful for those not eligible for Medicaid. Please feel free to share the list with any USAID/IP staff who might need this information. While this information is publicly available, UAA of course cannot attest to the quality of the providers.  Since this list is limited to the DMV area, alumni in other areas may want to develop similar lists, which we can post on the UAA website, if there are former USAID staff and partners in those areas who would benefit from such a list. Click here to see the DMV list.
